TRILOGY OF RESEARCH ON MAN
A Scimmie Nude project, created by Gaddo Bagnoli.
Produced by Federica Maria Bianchi.
From 2003 to 2007, Scimmie Nude has explored new theatre art-forms, using classic and contemporary texts to perform a deep theatrical investigation into the human condition, studyinghuman behavior through the physical responsiveness in human beings and their relations withthe world.
In 2008 the company felt the need to create original projects in which the text was replaced by a “personal” stage writing in which any narrative and psychological ingredient was avoided.
In next four years (2008-2011) Scimmie Nude created the Trilogy of research on man:
FEAR AND DESIRE (2008) – First part of the Trilogy of research on man
MACHINES Little symphony for bodies and voices (2010) – Second part of the Trilogy of research on man
PERVERSIONS (2011) – Third part of the Trilogy of research on man
The three productions of the Trilogy can be viewed as a whole or separately, not only for distribution and organizational needs, but also and mostly because they are not dependent upon one another.
All related themes have an inner coherence supporting their independent development. For that reason, the trilogy shows have different subjects, performance styles and contents, tackle complementary subjects and kick off Scimmie Nude’s investigation on the human condition.
The features and concerns of this investigation are closely linked to relations, to physical, emotional and spiritual life, and trigger a whole range of upsetting responses, which come to life in the plots and paths of the company’s works.
Scimmie Nude is committed to creating shows that somehow change human beings not because they teach us something, but because they undermine our seeming, flat balance which might make us lose the true flavor and the ultimate sense of life.
